Today I picked up my Passport with my E-2 (Teaching English) work VISA from the Korean Consulate located at 460 Park Ave. New York, NY. It was so easy to obtain this VISA from them. I went on Tuesday August 14th with my signed contract in hand (stating that I will be earning 2.2 MIL WON per month as my salary), school appointment paperwork, VISA application form filled out, and $45 processing fee. Within 1 day this VISA application was complete and issued to me. The Korean Consulate was closed on August 15th in observence of Liberation Day. Going to the Consulate was great practice for me to practice my Korean (all 3 sentences that I know so far). Common Korean Greeting: Anyoung ha seyo- means "Good Morning, Good Afternoon, & Good Evening" It is the most common and widely used greeting in Korea. It literally translates to "Is peace within you" or "Are you comfortable?"
The other other sentence I got to use today was "Gamsa hamnida" which means "Thank You" I thank you all for taking time to read my first ever blog entry. Many thanks go out to Joseph Varghese for helping set up this account with me.
